Therapeutic Relations Redefined

William Garner (1843-1930)

The second son born to Captain William Garner and Jane Torr, (George) William Garner was a larger-than-life figure in Wynyard, on the northwest coast of Tasmania. In his youth William had several brushes with the law, once for ‘disorderly behaviour’ and on another occasion ‘disturbing the peace by fighting’. However, he came to be recognised as a ‘respected citizen’, serving as a municipal councillor.
In 1868 he married Mary Patterson, and their marriage produced eleven children.
